About
D. Scott Simmons:
Scott Simmons began his career in healthcare as an Orderly in the ER in a small rural hospital in South Carolina at the age of only sixteen. This work experience proved quite valuable and led to an interest in Radiology. Scott chose to enter the Radiological Science field by pursuing an Associate’s Degree at Piedmont Technical College in Greenwood, SC. During this experience a clinical rotation in Radiation Therapy led him to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Radiation Therapy.
Scott’s career as a Radiation Therapist began in the Jacksonville, Florida area as a staff therapist. Soon the previous experience in healthcare began to pay off with the first Chief Therapist Job presenting itself in only three (3) short years. Scott chose to relocate to the middle Georgia area and pursue the first administrative type position. This position was a clear turning point in Scott’s career, only four (4) months after moving into this position; Medicare audited the facility. Unknowing companies existed to help with this kind of process Scott began defending the facility internally. With success at this level, Scott found a personal interest in the business side of Radiation Oncology. This proved very full filling in the Radiation Oncology Management Position he was promoted to within the first year in Middle Georgia. At this time to learn more about the business side of Radiation Oncology, Scott began attending Cancer Care Network’s Seminars in Radiation Oncology Billing and Documentation.
It was at these seminars he was recognized and pursued by Cancer Care Network to become the first full time Consultant for this leading company in Radiation Oncology billing. It is also at these seminars where Scott met and grew to love his mentor Dr. Carl Robert Bogardus, a true gift to our specialty. For the next decade, both as a client and as an employee Scott worked hand in hand with Dr. Bogardus consulting, teaching and providing outstanding service to clients across the country.
In February 2006 Scott decided it was time to branch off on his own and formed Eagle Consulting. Eagle Consulting was designed to provide our specialty another option in the consulting realm. Eagle Consulting is small enough to provide personalized service without the normal corporate infiltration from outside enterprises. Using the years of experience in healthcare Scott has based the company with honesty, integrity and personalized service in mind. In April of 2011 Eagle Consulting changed to an LLC, the new Louisiana Limited Liability Corporation became Eagle Consulting for Radiation Oncology, LLC
As of July of 2010, Eagle Consulting for Radiation Oncology LLC and relocated to New Orleans, LA. This allows Scott easy in and out access to serve his nationwide clients. If you plan on visiting New Orleans anytime, feel free to ask Scott questions about his new hometown, which is his favorite in the United States. Living in the New Orleans French Quarter he is full of tips and tricks for navigating the city.
